Another ski resort has joined the slowly simmering pre-season ruckus.
Arizona Snowbowl will open for the Winter 25/26 season on Friday, November 21, 2025, conditions permitting.
The ski resort located outside Flagstaff, Arizona, is coming off a record-breaking season. It remained open until June 1, 2025 for a total of 185 operating days.
A historically early start date helped, too—after an unexpected storm, Arizona Snowbowl opened for skiing and riding in 2024 on November 8.

In an email, a representative from Arizona Snowbowl said the ski resort is “channeling momentum into the 2025–26 season with upgrades to enhance the guest experience and extend the season.”
Arizona Snowbowl previously announced nearly $1.5 million in capital improvements.
They’ve improved snowmaking coverage that’s aimed at extending the season on Humphreys Chairlift terrain. The slopes around Arizona Snowbowl’s gondola have been newly gladed, creating what the ski resort called “some of the best advanced tree runs in the state.” And, next season at Arizona Snowbowl, visitors will find an expanded rental equipment fleet alongside improved Wi-Fi.
Arizona Snowbowl isn’t the only ski resort to share a planned opening date for 2025. In Utah, Brian Head and Solitude Mountain have announced plans to open in mid-November. Mammoth Mountain, California, is targeting November 14.
These opening date announcements, of course, aren’t written in stone. Freak storms have, in the past, prompted ski resorts to open earlier than planned. In contrast, particularly warm weather can lead to delays. Modern snowmaking has, however, made it easier for ski resorts to skirt Mother Nature.
Above all, though, having a date to pin to the calendar is pure fun. Below Arizona Snowbowl’s social media post breaking the news, skiers and snowboarders chimed in to express their excitement.
One comment captured the collective sentiment that skiers in Arizona and elsewhere are beginning to feel as fall approaches: “AHHH LETS GOOOOO.”
The idea of waxing your skis is starting to feel less and less crazy as the days slide by. If you're an Arizona Snowbowl skier, you're season starts in less than 99 days. Let that sink in.
