The Coloradan ski season lives on. Arapahoe Basin Ski Area—known affectionately by locals as “A-Basin”—confirmed this morning that it will remain open into June.

“We do not have a closing date to announce quite yet,” A-Basin wrote on Facebook. “Once we reach the end of May, operations will be assessed on a week-by-week basis based on conditions.”

As of this morning, 94 of A-Basin’s 144 name runs were open. While the resort has seen 10 inches of fresh snow in the past 48 hours, warmer, more spring-like conditions are expected this week. Sixty-six inches of snow are still on A-Basin’s slopes.

On Mother’s Day, A-Basin Chief Operating Officer Alan Henceroth scored fresh tracks after the snowy May reset. “We got to A-Basin early, found first tracks on every run, and had the time of our lives. Nothing like skiing Spring powder,” Henceroth wrote in a recent blog post.

A-Basin is home to the longest lift-accessed ski season in Colorado and typically operates from October through June. In 1995, A-Basin kept the lifts spinning until August 10th, marking the resort’s latest closing date on record.

Winter Park Resort remains open alongside A-Basin and will offer skiing as long as possible on the Mary Jane portion of its piste.

Breckenridge Ski Resort, another area that was keeping the late-season dream alive in Colorado, decided to call it quits on Sunday, May 12th. “We believe this is the best way to finish the season strong as we look at the long-term forecast and get ready for summer in just one month,” Breckenridge wrote on Instagram.
