What could become the most expensive home ever sold in the U.S. just hit the market—and, perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s in a ski town.

Listed by the Californian billionaire couple Lynda and Stewart Resnick, who are the co-owners of the agriculture business, the Wonderful Company, the property sits a mile from downtown Aspen, Colorado, and spans 74 acres.

According to the home’s Zillow listing, it costs $300 million—a price that, if met, would set a new record for residential sales. Hedge fund manager Ken Griffin established the previous record at $238 million when he bought a multi-story New York penthouse.

The Aspen estate includes several structures that complement an 18,466-square-foot residence called the Little Lake Lodge. The listing stated that another 5,286-square-foot modern home on the banks of the Roaring Fork River can accommodate “guests or staff,” as well as noting additional homes.

Photos from the listing show residences with high ceilings, exposed wood, and an indoor hot tub. Outside the windows, trees and manicured greenery sprawl.

The listing added that through a negotiation with Pitkin County, a “second, distinguished 19,750-square-foot residence” can be built on the property, resulting in a "remarkable multigenerational compound.”

The property has 18 bedrooms, 24 bathrooms, and is 27,426 sq. ft. Tap or click the arrow below to see photo and more information about the estate.

Beyond the homes, the estate sits adjacent to hiking and cross-country trails and has its own infinity pool and private lake that’s stocked with carp and trout. Aspen’s four ski resorts are nearby, too.

While $300 million is unusually high for Aspen’s standards, the small town is well known for being one of the most expensive places to live in the country.

According to Zillow, the average home value there is $3,368,851, up 1.4% from the prior year. Several home listings on Zillow exceed $50 million. Much like other skiing hotspots, Aspen is a place of contrasts where ski bums, bartenders, seasonal workers, and multi-billionaires share the same mountain air.

According to Forbes, the Resnicks have a shared estimated net worth of $12.6 billion. The Wonderful Company is among the U.S.’s largest agriculture businesses, encompassing brands like Fiji Water, POM Wonderful, and Wonderful Pistachios.

The couple purchased the property that became the Aspen estate in the 1990s.
