We’re in full swing of new gear season, and Backcountry Access just dropped their updated 2025 lineup of backcountry safety gear. New stuff includes a few fresh avalanche airbag packs for skiing and snowmobiling, the long-awaited ultralight Stash Pro UL, an updated entry-level beacon, and a new 300cm aluminum rescue probe. Older models that are now back in stock include the electronic Float E2 packs, the full-featured Tracker 4 and Tracker 3+ avalanche beacons, Link Radios (including the new BCA Link Mini), shovels, poles, and other snow safety accessories.

What are some highlights from the Backcountry Access 2025 product line?

While BCA introduced electronic avalanche airbags last year with the Float E2 Pack series, they haven’t gone all-in on the tech. Some of the new 2025 Float Packs still feature tried-and-true compressed air cylinders. These are available in 12, 22, 32, and 42-liter sizes. These might not be the lightest or fanciest packs on the market, but with prices starting at $499, these show BCA is still committed to making robust, affordable packs for heavy-duty use in the backcountry.

New this year is an updated Tracker S Beacon, BCA’s entry-level avalanche beacon. The Tracker S has been redesigned with better ergonomics and all the features a simple beacon needs like a 50-meter range, 200-hour battery life in transmit mode, auto-revert mode, and BCA’s big-picture mode for multiple burial searches.

We’ve already talked about this one in detail, but BCA finally released their Stash Pro 40-UL Backpack, and it’s a solid contender in the lightweight ski mountaineering pack category. With innovative features like the SideStash pocket, a roll top closure, and a really comfortable frame, this pack performs like something much heavier than its 1160-gram weight might lead on. Oh yeah, and at $299, it’s hundreds of dollars cheaper than the competitors.

Finally, BCA also has a full run of radios available including the new BCA Link Mini, which we reviewed this past spring. These are essential backcountry communication tools, and a great addition to any backcountry skiing kit.
