After an exhaustive two week search, the body of missing snowboarder Connor Gill was found on Friday, February 28, 2025, according to a report from VailDaily.
Gill was reported missing at Vail Mountain on February 14, 2025 around 3:15 p.m. by a friend. He was last seen boarding Vail's Avanti Express chairlift at 8:50 a.m. earlier that day. A winter storm dumped more than two feet of snow on Vail Mountain over the course of the weekend, hindering search and rescue efforts.
“On behalf of Vail Mountain and Vail Ski Patrol, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of our guest,” said Beth Howard, Vail Mountain chief operating officer. “We appreciate all of the rescue agencies who conducted this search alongside Vail Ski Patrol.”
Neither Vail Mountain nor VailDaily have confirmed where Gill's body was located, but alleged first-hand reports on Reddit claim he was found under Chair 2 (Avanti Express) about "2/3 of the way up" near a small grouping of trees on the looker's right.
POWDER expresses its thoughts and condolences with Gill's friends and family during this difficult time.
Skiing and snowboarding are inherently dangerous sports. We takes risks every single time we venture into the mountains, whether on a chairlift or not. The unfortunate reality is that most of us have been affected by a death that occurred in the mountains.
