Closing Days Announced For Canada's Major Ski Resorts

These are the closing dates at major ski resorts in Canada for the Winter '23/'24 season. Keep in mind that these dates may be subject to change based on weather and snow conditions:

• Fernie Alpine Resort, British Columbia: April 14th 
• Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, British Columbia: April 14th 
• Mont Tremblant, Québec: April 14th 
• Revelstoke Mountain Resort, British Columbia: April 14th 
• Lake Louise Ski Resort, Alberta: May 5th 
• Banff Sunshine Village, Alberta: May 20th 
• Whistler Blackcomb, British Columbia: Blackcomb Mountain April 14th, Whistler Mountain May 20th 

In Canada—particularly on the West Coast—funky wasn't the half of it in terms of skiing conditions. For instance, Whistler Blackcomb, British Columbia, saw wet weather in December, only to be hit with stormy, powdery conditions later in the season.

During a trip to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, British Columbia, I caught a taste of the in-between, riding dust on crust. After I left, it started dumping.

That's the way it goes sometimes—not every season can be a non-stop powder fest. Fingers crossed next winter kicks off with more snow. In the meantime, spring skiing—and the odd sleeper powder day—abound until the season ends up north.
