Planning a summer wedding means hopefully preparing for warm weather and sunshine, but in the mountains, you never really know.

One couple decided to gamble on summer solstice weather in Whitefish for their wedding, and it seems they accidentally forgot to un-invite Ullr to the ceremony. Whether or not they were hoping for one, this couple certainly got a white wedding.

The Whitefish Summit webcams captured a small ceremony hunkered down at the top of the mountain with umbrellas just before 5 p.m. on June 21. What was probably supposed to be an idyllic June wedding saw a few inches of snow and some pretty chilly-looking conditions.

While snowy nuptials might have been a bit of a surprise for this couple, who likely planned their wedding a bit in advance, the National Weather Service was forecasting up to 5" of snow in Whitefish and other places in the western US over the weekend.

Mt. Bachelor, Mt. Hood, Whitefish, Bridger Bowl, Palisades Tahoe, Grand Targhee, Sun Valley, and several Canadian resorts saw at least a dusting of snow over the solstice, if not several inches. Beartooth Pass, on the Wyoming/Idaho border, also closed over the weekend due to more than a foot of snow, whiteout conditions, and wind drifts taller than 3 feet.

You've gotta hand it to this couple for sticking with their original plan despite the weather. Congrats to the happy couple, and here's hoping their anniversary is a little warmer!
