It’s August. For most of us in the Northern Hemisphere, it's stinking hot. The hill sides are bare, glasses of lemonade are sweating thick droplets of condensation, and the ski season couldn’t feel further away.

But at ski resorts, preparations for next winter are already underway—and that includes hiring staff across a range of departments. On social media, numerous mountains have advertised that they’re looking for new employees. If your goal is to spend your winter in the alpine, joining the workforces that keep ski resorts running smoothly could be a good place to start.

These are a few of the ski areas and resorts now hiring. Not spotting a ski area that seems like a good fit? Don’t sweat it—more mountains have job openings for the 2025-2026 season, too.

Mt. Baker, Washington

A few days ago, the powder skiing enclave of Mt. Baker Ski Area, Washington, shared on social media that job applications were now live. The listings include everything from building maintenance technician to pro patroller. The latter group of employees, Mt. Baker noted in a subsequent post, has the “most demanding job on the mountain.” And due to the limited number of available positions, applications to be a pro patroller may close shortly.

“Ski instructors, cooks, drivers, you name it,” Heavenly wrote in a recent social media post. “Whether you're looking for a full-time or part-time gig this winter, we'd love to have you on our team!”

Heavenly, like Stevens Pass, is owned by Vail Resorts and has a starting wage of $20.
