We already had our first taste of winter—now it's Europe’s turn.

Reports of fresh snow are emerging across the continent. The WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series shared footage this morning of a snow covered trail: “Okay it’s happening, it’s REALLY happening.”

Webcam images from Zugspitze, Germany, painted a similarly snowy picture.

In Kitzbühel, Austria, it almost looks deep enough to break out the skis.

The snow should keep coming. According to an OpenSnow forecast, 28 inches of powder could fall at Saalbach Hinterglemm, Austria, in the next one to five days. At Andermatt, Switzerland, 11 inches of the white stuff are possible.

It’s not all pre-season stoke, though. The Local reported that Austria is bracing for a few days of dangerous weather. Heavy rain, avalanches, and flooding are all possible, meteorologists warned. ÖBB, Austria’s rail operator, advised against unnecessary trips by train. Eastern Austria is under a Red Rain Warning until September 15th due to the threat of flooding and mudslides. “Disturbances in the infrastructure, e.g., traffic, utilities, and local supplies, are expected,” the warning reads. “Pay close heed to the ongoing weather forecasts and comply with the instructions of the Civil Defense.”

In Switzerland, moderate danger snowfall warnings are in effect through September 14th. The Swiss Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology cautioned drivers to be prepared for “slippery conditions due to snow-covered roads.”
