Weeks ago, skiing legend Lindsey Vonn suffered from a complex tibia fracture after an unfortunate accident in the women’s downhill at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. Following the devastating leg injury, rumors of her retirement have surged online.

But Vonn has now issued a crystal clear message to all the ongoing retirement talks. She's not going to hang her skis just yet no matter what the online chatter suggests. And even if she does, it will be her choice to decide when.

In a post on X on Sunday, Vonn wrote, "No, I’m not ready to discuss my future in skiing." Mentioning about her ongoing recovery phase she continued, "My focus has been on recovering from my injury and getting back to normal life. I was already retired for 6 years and have an amazing life outside of skiing."

She took pride in being No.1 in the world again at 41 after coming back. But at this point in her life, "I’m the only one that will decide my future. I don’t need anyone’s permission to do what makes me happy."

So will the athlete keep pursuing more accomplishments in her career? Even she's not sure at the moment. But it all depends on how she wants to take things moving forward. "Only time will tell. Please stop telling me what I should or should not do. I’ll let you know when I decide."

Recently, the Olympic champion gave a positive update to her fans on Instagram. Vonn shared a clip where she informed about her post-injury progress. “Guys…. I’m biking!! Starting with 5 minutes… making progress one day at a time.”

At 41, Vonn is one of the greatest alpine skiers of all time. She's earned 84 World Cup wins, 20 World Cup globe titles, and three Olympic medals.
