Maine's Big Rock Mountain is sprucing things up for winter 2025/26.

Just over two months ahead of the mountain's opening, BigRock has debuted a brand new logo and trail map. The trail map was created by Rad Smith, who took the torch from legendary ski map illustrator, James Niehaus, and features a few updated trail names as well. BigRock has brought back old trail names such as Elbow, Family Trail, and Chair Trail.

BigRock's previous trail maps had been quite bland, but thanks to Smith's illustration, the new map has a 3D feel and more perspective on the mountain. The mountain's new logo also works to pay homage to its roots, while being more modern and updated for the future.

Check it out below.

Over the summer, BigRock Mountain bid farewell to its old Mueller Double chair that had been around since 1993. The lift had originally been installed at Evergreen Valley Ski Area in 1972 where it ran until 1982, and then laid dormant until it was installed at Big Rock. The Mueller Double was Big Rock's first true chairlift, preceded by a 10-minute Poma lift ride.

The double chair was replaced by a Doppelmayr Quad this past summer. The dismantling of the old lift has also opened up Comet as a full-width trail for the coming season. Chairs from the double are available for purchase on Big Rock's website for a donation of $200 or more.

BigRock Mountain is slated to open on December 12, 2025, and remain open for 80 days of skiing throughout the winter.

BigRock is a non-profit, community operated ski area located in northeastern Maine, right on the New Brunswick border. BigRock's new trail map show off the mountain's 980 vertical feet and 70 acres of skiable terrain, serviced by 2 chairlifts and 2 surface lifts.
