Late last month, Mammoth Mountain, California, announced it would extend the operating seasons of two of its lower elevation lodges—Canyon and Eagle—until April 21st due to recent snowfall.

Both lodges will continue to offer lift access until April 21st.

The Village Gondola, which transports skiers from the Village At Mammoth to the Canyon Lodge, will also continue operating until April 21st.

While the 21st is rapidly approaching, there's plenty of skiing left at Mammoth—the resort plans to remain open until May 27th, weather and conditions permitting.

In the meantime, spring festivities are on the menu, with Mammoth's pond skim set to go off on Sunday, April 14th.

Admittedly, Mammoth's 2023-2024 ski season might feel truncated when compared to the last. The resort closed in 2023 on August 6th.

But last winter, as we all know, was utterly anomalous for Mammoth, with the resort seeing a stunning 700 inches of snow at its Main Lodge (the summit saw nearly 900 inches). This winter, the Main Lodge tally is sitting just above 300 inches.

Still, Mammoth recently enjoyed a fantastic few months, as the goods were consistently delivered in February and March 2024. So, break out the sunblock and don't start mourning the end of the season quite yet—there are still two months of spring skiing left.
