Two-time gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin's shocking struggles at the 2022 Winter Olympics continued in the slalom Wednesday morning in Beijing when she missed a gate early in her first run and was eliminated.
The mistake for Shiffrin came just two days after she fell in the giant slalom and was eliminated in the event Monday.
Shiffrin, 26, won gold in slalom at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi and is widely considered to be the greatest athlete ever in the discipline.

There is still time for Shiffrin to find Olympic success with three more events still on her docket. She is expected to compete in the other three women's individual ski events: super-G, downhill and combined.
Shiffrin won silver in the combined in 2018, but hasn't competed in super-G or downhill at the Olympic level before.
