Reddit/skiing recently saw a strange video from a skier asking the online group for tips to improve his form.
While his upper body is completely still, and he is rolling his ankles, he is doing it in a very peculiar way. The subreddit had a blast laughing along with the "whimsical" skier, who surely posted this as a joke.
While his form is different from anything you've ever seen cruising around the mountain, his weight is actually distributing correctly, pushing through the front edge of the outer ski with little weight on the inside ski, and then transferring this weight at the correct part of the next arc of the turn.
However, it does look like a knee injury waiting to happen.
There should be a disclaimer under the video, like on TikTok skiing videos, where it says "do not attempt. Action performed by trained professionals."
I don't know exactly what action this is, but it's definitely something most people should never, ever attempt.
Redditors quickly took to commenting their varying opinions of the new-fangled style, writing, "You’re going to cause an avalanche bending at the resonant frequency of that slope" and "you need to get your joints checked out. Looks like you're missing knee caps."
The best quote, though, is that "this is legitimately impressive."
That it is.
