This past spring, Lost Valley, located in Auburn, ME, had a Hall double chairlift at Mount Southington in Connecticut dismantled.

Why? This chairlift is identical to Lost Valley's two existing chairlifts, and construction of this third lift at Lost Valley will begin this summer.

The lift will be installed on the old T-Bar line, now known as Coyote Trail.

Perhaps most excitingly, this installation project will also include the addition of lighting and snowmaking to that side of of Lost Valley to allow for weeknight night skiing.

Check out Coyote Trail to the left side of the hill on the trail map below.

Due to the new night skiing capabilities of the resort, Lost Valley plans to add park features, intermediate and advanced learning opportunities, and more race capabilities.

Race capabilities are a huge plus for any resort with night skiing, because high school race teams and local grade-school kids can practice outside of their 9-3 schedule. Also, people with 9-5 jobs are able to ski on weekdays.

Maine's winter allows for limited daylight with shorter days, so extending time on the snow for anyone who wants to ski more is a huge deal.

Lost Valley currently has 17 trails open, and their surface conditions are "wet snow".

In addition to downhill skiing, Lost Valley also offers nordic skiing trails and snowshoe trails, with snowshoe tickets for $6 to enjoy "5k of natural snowshoe trails."

Lost Valley offers alpine skiing tickets at the cost of $69 for adults, all-day, with discounts offered to Military personnel, college students, seniors, and juniors (6-12).

The ski hill also offers afternoon-only and half day options.

Although Lost Valley is smaller in size than Saddleback, Sunday River, or Sugarloaf, the results, in terms of expanding ski offerings for local Mainers, will be huge.
