With how much social media has changed in the last 15 or so years, it's hard not to look back on the good old days of crappy filters and long for simpler times.

As an elder Gen Z'er, I can say with certainty that deep in my Facebook page there are hundreds of photo booth shots from middle school sleepovers that I can only pray never see the light of day again.

I know I'm not alone in this experience, and that just about everyone on social media has the ghosts of Instagram filters and 'duck faces' past, even ski areas, apparently.

Despite the fact that I've actually never skied there, Sugarbush Resort has easily become my favorite ski area this year due to their social media presence alone.

Today's post, where they dug up old Instagram posts from 2012, filters and all, cements their #1 spot in my heart even more. Take a look below for some of Sugarbush's best (worst) posts from 2012. How the times have changed.

Sugarbush's Instagram circa 2012 is an incredible representation of that era. Photos of snowflakes on fabric with probably 3-4 filters on? #skiing #snowboarding #vermont #hellyes. Can someone queue up 'Call me Maybe?'

Or better yet, this *artsy* photo of some end of season slush and the classic chairlift shadows. In 2012, no chairlift shadow shot was complete without a little vignetting too. Gotye could never with the emotional depth here.

Scroll through the embedded Instagram post below to see more examples of Sugarbush's posts from 2012. They're a trip.

I could go on, but in short, these are incredible. Call me a dinosaur but as someone who can't figure out TikTok to save my life, hasn't used Snapchat since 2017, and never hopped on Twitter, I yearn for the days where the only thing you could see on Instagram were photos, and major political news wasn't broken via some billionaire's offshoot of Twitter.

Sugarbush gets a gold star for bringing me back to the good old days, if even for a morning, and for remaining my favorite resort I've never skied.
