Winter has finally showed its face in the Tahoe area!
Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe, Nevada, saw its first flakes of the season this morning, September 25, 2025.
It didn't look like much was sticking, but there was undoubtedly a solid bluster above their 8,260ft base. Temperatures are expected to keep dropping through the week, as is the snow line. While OpenSnow is saying the snow line is up at 12,600 feet today, it's expected to drop as low as 9,500 ft. later in the week. Tap or click the video below to watch.
This season, Mt. Rose has invested more than $6 million in resort upgrades and infrastructure to improve their guest experience. The all-new Wildslide Tahoe Tubing Center will open with 20 tubing lanes that stretch 750 feet and are served by dual conveyor lifts.
The lodge will feature brand-new outdoor seating to compliment the tubing center, and a new 400-space parking lot will allow for more convenience when accessing the tubing area. Tubing will be open to guests Fridays–Sundays and daily during holidays, with 2-hour sessions starting at 8:30 a.m. The Wildslide Tubing center is slated to open for the season on Thanksgiving Day (November 27).
Mt. Rose has also invested in strengthening their snowmaking systems in order to increase output. They've also added an additional snow gun in Kit Carson bowl to help open more terrain, earlier in the season.
Mt. Rose hasn't yet announced their opening date for the 2025/26 season, but it's usually sometime in mid-November. Last year, they were the first Tahoe area ski resort to spin lifts for the season.
