Whether you're a ski bum, a weekend warrior, or a big-time executive with a passion for skiing, staying in a lavish hotel adjacent to a ski resort is a collective dream we all share.

We'll always have a special place in our hearts for the skiers that make trips happen on small budgets, but these eight luxury hotels are world-class destinations that will satisfy every skier's most lavish desires.

Note: An effort was made to pick only one hotel per ski resort. There are other fantastic luxury hotels at each resort to explore.

1. The Blake - Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico

Located just a few dozen steps from Lift 1 is The Blake, Taos Ski Valley's premier slopeside accommodation.

With ski-in, ski-out access and a handy ski valet waiting to ferry your gear, navigating between your room and the slopes is as seamless as possible.

The Blake has a variety of rooms, suites, penthouses, and residences to meet the size of your party. I highly recommend soaking in one of the hotel's hot tubs after a long day of skiing bumps and steep terrain at Taos.

2. One&Only Moonlight Basin - Big Sky, Montana

The newest hotel on this list, having just opened in November of 2024, the One & Only Moonlight Basin is as chic as it gets.

The hotel has a state-of-the-art wellness studio, fantastic restaurants and après, and its own gondola to ferry guests directly from the hotel to Big Sky's Madison Base area. Rooms are elegantly furnished and tastefully designed by Olson Kundig and start at more than $2,000 per night.

3. Waldorf Astoria - Park City, Utah

With Park City Mountain Resort, the country's largest ski resort, just a few blocks around the corner, the Waldorf Astoria is a launching point for a luxurious ski vacation.

Fit with a world-class spa, the pleasantly named Powder Restaurant, and a variety of signature experiences, you'll be hard-pressed to get bored, but no worries if you do. The Waldorf Astoria offers a free daily shuttle to ferry you into the bustling mountain town of Park City.

4. The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe - Northstar, California

Located at mid-mountain of Northstar, one of Tahoe's most popular ski resorts, The Ritz-Carlton is the pinnacle of on-mountain lodging.

The hotel has a road that winds up Northstar's lower mountain, but many guests opt to use The Ritz-Carlton's gondola that runs from the base area. The hotel has a variety of suites and residences that cater to luxury and fine living.

The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe is the only ski-in/ski-out luxury hotel in all of Lake Tahoe.

5. Montage Deer Valley - Deer Valley, Utah

Deer Valley is one of the world's most luxurious ski resorts, and The Montage Deer Valley has the chops to back it up.

Marketed as an "authentic yet elegant mountain getaway," luxury seekers will find what they're looking for at the Montage. Pour another glass of champagne and take off the Rolex for the night; staying at the Montage is what dreams are made of.

6. Sun Valley Lodge - Sun Valley, Idaho

The Sun Valley Lodge isn't as luxurious as some of the other hotels on this list, but its history and general classiness have landed it high in my book.

The Lodge has been around since the '30s when "America's First Destination Ski Resort" first opened to the public. The Lodge has undergone numerous renovations in the 90 years since it first opened, but the original charm breathes through the walls.

To add to the beautiful hotel's allure, Ernest Hemingway is believed to have finished his class novel, For Whom the Bell Tolls, in Suite 206 of the Lodge.

7. The Four Seasons Jackson Hole - Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Wyoming

Located within shouting distance of Jackson Hole's Bridger Gondola, The Four Season's convenient location is about as good as it gets.

Guests merely walk a few dozen steps to reach the lifts, and The Four Seasons' excellent valet staff will have your skis ready for you each morning. After skiing shin-deep powder all day, I felt more than relieved to hand off my skis to a friendly face and continue to slowly stumble my way back to the room.

The hotel has a lovely restaurant, but the main attraction, for guests at least, is the hotel's new speakeasy bar. Ask the front desk!

8. The Little Nell - Aspen, Colorado

There's no denying The Little Nell's influence on luxury ski accommodations, as it is perhaps the most famous hotel on this list.

Whether it's the hotel's world-class dining or its beautiful rooms, its reputation for being a cut above is well known. There's also a luxurious spa if the other accolades weren't enough.

Aspen is known to attract celebrities, and The Little Nell is known to be one of their favorite spots. Who knows, you might end up rubbing elbows with a billionaire or Hollywood mega-star during your stay.
