The German engineers at Völkl's factory in Straubing, Germany have long had a reputation for building stiff, damp, skis meant for the most aggressive riders out there–but a few years ago, the introduction of the athlete-driven Revolt freeski line alongside their hard-charging Mantra/Katana line brought them back into the mix with skiers looking for purely for a fun time out there. The Revolt line has evolved and expanded greatly in recent years, and now includes a new 101mm-waisted "mini" freeride ski, the all-new Revolt 101.

The rest of the Revolt line remains structurally unchanged, with the new topsheets designed by Vancouver-based graphic artist Tylor Macmillan, who goes by @deep.gnome online. From the muted grey and beige of the smaller skis to the banana-yellow topsheet of the massive Revolt 121 (which are absolute bananas, speaking of), we'd say that they are absolute lookers.

Some standouts from the line this year are, of course, the all-new Revolt 101. This takes the progressive but directional freeride shape and construction found in the comp-friendly Revolt 114 and shrinks it into a package better suited for everyday use on hard snow. We think this might be the ultimate all-mountain ski for riders who appreciate a looser, more playful feel than Völkls Mantra-series skis but still want to put the pedal to the metal. It was an absolute tester favorite at our Sunshine Village ski test, and I'm excited to have a pair as daily drivers here in Jackson Hole this upcoming winter.

Another standout is the massive Revolt 121, one of the most unique powder freestyle skis out there. It can handle serious abuse, like the "ripping Alaskan spines with Markus Eder" kind, but doubles as a fairly friendly resort powder ski for when the snow gets really deep at places like Crystal Mountain, Alta, or Jackson.

The full Revolt line is split between the twin-tip freestyle-focused Revolt 86, Revolt 90, Revolt 96, and Revolt 104, and the directional freeride-focused Revolt 101, Revolt 114, and the genre-bending Revolt 121.

Völkl also brings back the Mantra all-mountain freeride series, with the hard-charging M7 Mantra, Mantra 108, 102, 88, and 84, as well as the Katana V-Werks (carbon-fiber spaceships, if you ask us). The Blaze 114, 104, 94, and 86 also return with fresh topsheets and unchanged construction.
