Itching to go skiing? We are, too.

While the winter season may not be here quite yet, some ski areas across Utah have already begun looking at the calendar, eyeing potential opening dates. One, Brian Head, has the earliest planned opening date, November 7, 2025, so far.

This winter, Utah is set to welcome a “new” ski area, too. After years of dormancy, Snowland near the town of Fairview is scheduled to come back to life on December 6. The little hill will operate with two rope tows and offer free tickets during its first winter of operation.

These are the rest of the announced ski resort opening dates in Utah for the 2025-2026 winter season. As always, they could change based on weather and snow conditions.

Keep reading for a full list of planned opening dates for Utah ski resorts. The list will be updated as more resorts make their opening day announcements in the weeks to come.

What’s New at Utah Ski Resorts This Year?

Snowland may be the most exciting Utah ski scene development as the 2025-2026 season approaches. It’s set to become the state’s 16th ski area while providing affordable (read: free) skiing and riding to the residents of Fairview. Tickets are set to cost around $20 as Snowland develops into a full-fledged ski area.

Brent Lange, an avid skier and chair of the nonprofit behind the ski area, Snowland Foundation Inc., told POWDER that Snowland will be a “really attractive community gathering place.”

Meanwhile, on the other end of the spectrum, Deer Valley is charging ahead with its enormous Expanded Excellence initiative that, by the time this season starts, will have added ten new chairlifts since December 2024. The ski resort now encompasses 4,300 skiable acres, making it one of the largest on the continent.

Sundance Mountain Resort is planning to open nine new trails this winter as it prepares for the debut of the new Electric Horseman high-speed quad chairlift in 2026. Snowbird is unveiling a new mid-mountain lodge, The Nest, this winter.
