Earlier this year, I visited Revelstoke, British Columbia, for the first time and quickly fell in love with the charming town and gorgeous scenery. While I wrecked myself mountain biking on the way there, and didn't really get to enjoy much of their mountains, I saw enough to put it high on the list for a winter trip.
I know now that Ullr, or the universe, or something, was baiting me. While I wait for winter to truly arrive in the Pacific Northwest, Revelstoke (Revy) is getting absolutely hammered by snow.
Revy started the month with a 30" storm, before getting walloped by a 29" storm, which gave way to a 21" storm. In the last 48 hours alone, Revelstoke has gotten 45cm (~17 inches) of snow and has a season total of 452cm (177 inches).
As you can tell from the following video, residents of Revelstoke are having a terrible time. I am worried about Gnormie's health. Gnormie, for those out of the loop, is Revy's unofficial mascot. He's regularly buried on the resort's snowstake webcam.
Is he doing okay after getting buried repeatedly? Someone get him an airbag.

Jokes aside, Revelstoke isn't the only place in interior BC where a snorkel has become a new daily ski accessory. Ski areas like Whitewater, Silver Star, Panorama, and Fernie have all gotten dumped on recently. Further east, parts of Alberta like Lake Louise and Banff Sunshine are also having amazing ski seasons.
I promise I'm genuinely happy for our friends in the great white North below my seething jealousy. Perhaps Ullr will pay us a visit in the Central Cascades one day. Maybe when everyone in Revy's legs get tired? Or Gnormie revolts? I won't hold my breath...
