Where were you when this board was getting high?
By now, the counterculture-turned-streetwear brand HUF has left its impact on skateboarding, thanks to its founder Keith Hufnagel, who grew up skating in New York City and then moved to San Francisco upon turning pro. Now, it will permeate the snowboard world.
HUF and 686 have teamed up to bring you a limited edition Slush Slasher. The directional board was handcrafted in Austria at The Mothership, and the Spring Break logo, the 686 logo, and a HUF logo on the topsheet. On the base? A whole lot of marijuana leaves.
The board is a true directional shape with surf camber for maximum float and control. It is available in just one size – a 147 – and is billed as a mini-park and powder ripper.
“The Slush Slasher is just as at home on jibs as it is in the deep stuff,” the product description says. “The innovated short-board rails turn on groomers, transitions, and in the park. The elongated nose plows over anything in its path, while its Vacation Tail lets you put these snow sharks on cruise control. With the Slush Slasher, the world is your seven-day weekend.”
The board features surf camber that has a smooth arcing tip and tails, and camber through the inserts with a gentle low angle that allows for maximum float and control. Its superdrive base material adds extra durability and surface strength, and it was of course, made with 100% clean energy at the mothership.
The board has an effective edge of 47.7 centimeters, a waist width of 10.5 centimeters, and a 2.8 centimeter sidecut. It retails for $650 and is available on both 686 and HUF’s websites.
This isn’t the first snowboard the two brands have worked on together. Last year, a directional twin was released in a 156 cm. That board featured a telephone on the topsheet. On the base, it read “How’s My Riding? Dial 1-800-HUF-2Day. You could occasionally catch Joey Fava ripping on that thing in terrain parks throughout Utah.
This board is a part of a larger on-snow collection from the two brands. Other items include a special green version of the Double H jacket shell and pants, a fleece crewneck, a puffer insulated jacket, Smarty magnetic goggles, top and bottom base layers, a hinged balaclava, beanies, a hood, socks, and mittens.
Earlier this fall, 686 dropped a limited edition collaboration with Pabst Blue Ribbon.
