There are people who want to ski, Nate.

The public has spoken, and the people at Bogus Basin have answered. Bogus Basin, a ski area in Boise County, Idaho, will reopen its operations in the month of May.

An Instagram post from the ski area’s account featured a slopeside conversation between Bogus Director of Mountain Operations Nathan Shake and General Manager Brad Wilson. The two, with a beer in hand, recap just how good their last few turns were. Tap or click to watch their conversation below.

“You know, Nate? The skiing’s awful good right now,” Wilson says.

“Well, we certainly won’t make any money,” Shake says.

“We haven’t made any money since February, so why start now?” Wilson answers.

After a week off, Bogus will open in May for just the second time in its 82 year history. The ski area already extended its season once, with a bonus weekend of riding on April 19 and 20, 2025. The weekend featured all the usual end-of-season stops: a pond skim, live music, slushy laps and costumes.

That May 3, 2025 reopen date would put the ski area as the only place spinning lifts in the entire state. It would also lead it to outlasting Big Sky.

Bogus Basin finished the 2024-2025 regular season with just shy of 300” of snowfall. There’s still a base of 55” as of April 28, 2025, and the temperatures are hovering in the mid-40s.

The ski area has 10 lifts and 92 trails. There are 2,600 acres of ridable terrain. The mountain was open to ride and ski for 189 days in the 2024-2025 season. It’s located just 16 miles north of Boise, making it an easy destination for those in the city.
