Buried Snowboarder Passes Away in Park City, Utah

A snowboarder has died after being buried in the snow in Park City Mountains’ Canyons Village.

The accident happened before 11 a.m. on March 19, 2025. A family member helped ski patrollers find and dig out the rider – a 55-year-old man – before he was brought to an on-site medical facility. He was later pronounced dead, despite life-saving efforts.

“While the exact circumstances surrounding how the individual became buried remain unclear, there are no indications that the incident was avalanche related,” a post from the Summit County Sheriff said. 

The man was visiting from out of state.

“The Summit County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of this individual,” the department said.
