At the end of March, Chloe Kim capped off an already-impressive contest season with her third halfpipe world title.
At the end of May, she’ll head to Japan, but not to ride powder. She’ll be at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa in Tokyo, presenting an award at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards.
Kim will present awards alongside a number of stars, most notably, Gaten Matarazzo and Finn Wolfhard of Stranger Things fame. Rina Sawayama, an actor from the film John Wick: Chapter 4, and British boxer Ben Whittaker are also among the award presenters.
Crunchyroll is an anime streaming service. Think Netflix but exclusively for anime. The awards are open to fan voting, and fans are encouraged to vote each day through April 14 at 11:59 p.m. PT on the anime awards official website.
“The Crunchyroll Anime Awards are one of the most important times of year for fans because we hear directly from them on what anime they love and get to honor the creative community behind that love,” Crunchyroll President Rahul Purini told Deadline.
This isn’t the first time Kim has crossed over into the world of animated entertainment. In 2020, she appeared as herself in an episode of Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?. Spoiler alert, but her character rescues Shaggy and Scooby-Doo from an avalanche in the episode, only to find a frozen caveman with the rest of Mystery Inc. When the caper is solved, she rides with Shaggy.
Kim is also featured as a character in the video game Fortnite.
It’s a celebratory ending to a busy season for Kim. She won X Games gold in the halfpipe in January, then won a FIS World Cup gold medal there just a week later. She won the Laax Open in Switzerland two before that.
With her world title, Kim punched her ticket to the 2026 Olympics in Italy.
