Snowboarders are always trying to figure out a way to get a free season pass. The folks over at Indy have a solution for you.
All you have to do is brave the department of motor vehicles.
In a social media post on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, the Indy Pass introduced the "Indy License Plate Club." What exactly does that mean? Well, it's a chance to score a free Indy+ Pass.
The rules are pretty simple: register a personalized "Indy Pass" message on your car's license plate, and get a free Indy+ Pass for each season the plate is active.
"All devotees of the Indy Revolution are encouraged to apply for the club," the post says.
Here's how it works:
The idea was inspired by Indy Pass holder JT.
The Indy Pass gives you gives you two free lift tickets and a third discounted day at each one of their Partner Resorts. There are more than 250 ski areas across 4 continents that are members of the Indy Pass. They are of all sizes and locations, from Big Moose in Maine to Big White in British Columbia. Some other ski areas included are Pats Peak and Cannon Mountain in New Hampshire, Cataloochee in North Carolina, Canaan Valley in West Virginia, eagle Point in Utah, and HooDoo in Oregon.
"More than any other reason, Indy Pass exists because our children deserve the opportunity to forge a connection with the mountains that will stay with them for the rest of their lives," the Indy website says. That has the potential to fundamentally change their lives. This has always been the promise of skiing. Now, it’s up to all of us to help uphold it.
The pass has developed a cult following in recent years. For the last several years, the pass has sold out for the following year before the end of the current season. The New York Times recently did a feature on the pass in its travel section, and right now, members of public looking to join the Indy movement are only able to join a waitlist.
