No one is going to mistake Massachusetts for a hotbed of offseason snowboard training.

We’ve got places like Copper Mountain, Mount Hood, and Big Snow American Dream for that, but one small ski area near Worcester is doing its part to throw the Bay State into the mix.

Ski Ward has opened a mini summer terrain park as of Monday, August 18, 2025. There is a synthetic slope setup with several terrain park features. Jumps, tubes, boxes, and rails are all available to slide on.  The terrain park will be open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“You ask and you shall receive,” an Instagram post said. Mini summer terrain park opens Monday at 11 am.”

It’s a bit of a departure from Ski Ward’s typical summer activities. The ski area offers tubing in the summer as well, with four 250-foot lanes that are serviced by a carpet lift. That season is winding down, as the last day scheduled for that operation is August 25, 2025.

Ski Ward also offers three professional volleyball courts for its summer visitors. It’s a spot frequented by summer camps and birthday parties.

When winter rolls around, Ski Ward has nine trails, four lifts, and eight tubing lanes to offer. There is a rental shop and a snow school with more than 100 instructors available to teach both private and group lessons.

The ski area is relatively small, with just 220 feet of vertical drop and 45 acres of skiing and snowboarding terrain. There is a race facility with dual course timing gear, including a start and finish shack. The Slopeside Bar and Grill serves beer, wine, and food,  and there is a fireside lodge with a snack bar. It might not be the most populated mountain in Massachusetts – that honor typically is handed out to Wachusett – but it is a favorite of Chris Grenier, who said so in his 2013 Snowboarder interview with Mary Walsh.

When the snow finally returns, riders can ride at Ski Ward at a pretty affordable price. An unlimited season pass with no blackout dates will cost $579 for riders between the ages of 6 and 70. A weekday pass with blackout dates will cost a rider $350.
