It’s early July.
For the fortunate, that doesn’t mean much. That group of people was likely able to ride their snowboard into May and maybe even June at places like Mammoth, Palisades Tahoe, and Arapahoe Basin. Others might still be riding during a summer session on Mount Hood. Maybe they’re sliding rails at Woodward Copper all summer.
For the rest of us, though, it’s the off-season. Everyone treats the off-season differently, but some things are constants for everyone: nursing lingering injuries, spending time by a body of water, and trying your best to hunt down some of the best deals possible on last season’s gear.
All the big box retailers have been showcasing sales since after Presidents’ Day Weekend. That’s all well and good, but your local shops tend to wait to discount gear until the season is actually over. The good news for you? The discounts are usually better.
Here are five sales you should hit up to find your next board, boots, bindings, and outerwear.
They’re calling it their biggest winter sale ever. The southern Vermont boardshop is selling past season’s gear for up to 60% off. Perhaps most notable is the demo boards that are 50% off. For context, Darkside is selling a Burton Family Tree Grill Master, which usually retails for $680, for $340. The Ride x Trevor Andrew Pyschocandy is selling for $324, and the A-6 bindings of the same collaboration are selling for $198.
Go ahead and add a “Girls of Darkside” t-shirt or hat to your cart as well. You’ll help support the raddest group of riders in all of New England.
No, they don’t sell coffee, donuts, bagels, or pastries of any kind. This Tahoe-area staple sells goods that are made by snowboarders for snowboarders.
The shop is having a 40% off sale until July 9, 2025, in the name of Independence Day. Donut Shoppe sells soft goods and outerwear from Beyond Medals, and even released a limited collaboration collection with the brand founded by Tor Lundstrom and Kevin Backstrom. I picked myself up a t-shirt late last week.
The shop also carries soft goods from Korean-based BSRabbit, which you might recognize from Rocco Jamieson’s big air silver medal showing at X Games Aspen.
Yes, they sell hard goods, too. Grab yourself a Capita Aeronaut for $389.
This summer could finally be the summer you get that dream board. A Lib Tech Jamie Lynn? On sale for $420. The Never Summer Proto Synthesis? Also $420. Splinters also has several pow surfers and splitboards on sale, just in case you’re looking to shake things up a bit this winter. From Jones to Capita to Dinosaurs Will Die to Public, there’s something here for everyone.
The shop in Big Bear Lake, California, always seems to have a sale going on. This summer is no exception.
Some of my favorites from this sale: The 2025 Bataleon Thunderstorm for $371 and the 2025 Nitro T1 for $318. Rider Sam Taxwood designed this wild west-themed graphic for Nitro, and it’s one of the coolest out there.
With two locations in Whitefish, Montana, Stumptown has the area on lock when it comes to good gear. Though many local shops might lack a website, that’s not the case with Stumptown. There are a number of deals on Union bindings, including the Ultras, which debuted just a couple of years ago. The 2025s are discounted down to $180.
While you’re there, grab some shop merch. Several of the designs were made by shop employees and pay homage to nearby Glacier National Park.
