It's bonus time.
Brian Head, a ski area in southern Utah, was scheduled to finish the 2025-2026 season with 159 days of winter and one of the longest seasons in the state. Now, it looks like it’ll reach 160.
Daily operations ended this past Sunday, April 26, 2026. You can now add May 1 to the mix. And it will only cost you $1.
Brian Head will open Friday with 12 trails serviced by Giant Steps Express and the new Giant Steps conveyor lift.
"We are grateful for the hard work of the Brian Head team that enabled us to launch May skiing in Utah,” said Tom Pettigrew, general manager at Brian Head Resort.
Brian Head was the first resort in the state to open for the season on November 21, 2025. Thanks to its base elevation of 9,600 feet, it has maintained late-season coverage. Another 3” of snowfall this week and colder temperatures have allowed crews to resume snow making before closing weekend.
Costumes are encouraged. A live DJ will perform at the Giant Steps Lodge from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A group photo will be taken at the top of the Giant Steps Life, and prizes will be given away. Those prizes include lift tickets, a one-night stay at Brian Head Lodge, and a weekday season pass.
The ski area received 135” of snowfall this winter. Brian Head is one of just three ski areas still open in Utah. Snowbird and Brighton are still open as well. Snowbird received another 3″ of snowfall just in the last 24 hours, and Brighton has gotten 16” of snowfall in the last week alone.
