A man at a ski resort near Beaver Mountain, Utah, encountered a cougar this past Sunday, which is relatively common in Utah, but not in this part of the state.

Shockingly and luckily, he managed to fend it off using his snowboard. Charlie Duffy, a local resident, was exploring outside the resort boundaries with his snowboard when he noticed large paw prints in the snow, as reported by KSL. Shortly after, he turned to find the mountain lion only a few feet away. The cougar then lunged at him, as recounted by witnesses. Photographs shared on Instagram depict Duffy's torn jacket from the encounter. Thankfully, Duffy was able to snowboard away from the situation unharmed, according to KSL's report.

Following his Instagram post, snowboard brand Nitro and outerwear brand 686 offered to replace his damaged gear. That is a community vibe right there! Good job being crafty and quick on your feet, Charlie, we are glad you are safe.
