12 clubs made inquiries for Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford was certainly a busy man this summer, ending his loan spell at Barcelona, playing for England at the World Cup, and considering his future before starting the new season with Manchester United.

The 28-year-old has been on a rollercoaster journey over the last 18 months, firstly joining Aston Villa in January 2025 on a loan spell until the end of the season before signing for Barcelona on a season-long loan for the duration of the 2025/26 campaign.

There, the left-winger rediscovered himself, scoring 14 goals and providing eleven assists, impressing many including England boss Thomas Tuchel who handed him a spot in his World Cup squad.

After earning a third-placed medal with The Three Lions in North America, the pressing matter of his future began to resurface.

Interest from Serie A side AS Roma was present in the late stages of July according to reports whilst Premier League champions Arsenal were also reportedly considering a move for the 28-year-old.

New reports from The Telegraph have now revealed more details about the amount of interest in Marcus Rashford this summer.

Reporting on their website, the outlet have stated that United received inquiries from about a dozen clubs about Rashford this summer although a move never materialized.

Amongst those that made an initial move, according to the publication, were Premier League duo Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.

Rashford’s loan spell at Villa was the first step in re-energising his career after leaving Manchester United, and saw him compete in the Champions League and Premier League regularly when match-fit.

Under the leadership of Unai Emery for this season, who managed the left-winger during his loan spell at the club, a move from Aston Villa to re-sign the 28-year-old arguably makes sense.

Villa ultimately went onto sign Alejandro Garnacho on a loan basis from Chelsea, a move that filled the left-wing position that Rashford may have played in should he have returned to the club.

Interest from Tottenham Hotspur, on the other hand, is more intriguing. Spurs moved to sign two left-wingers during the summer transfer window, Savio and Mykhaylo Mudryk, although their consideration of Marcus Rashford arguably shows the wide range of players that they were considering.

With neither move working out, Rashford’s time at Manchester United goes on. Focus is now firmly on whether the 28-year-old can carve success out of his second spell at the club and push United towards their objectives this season.
