The Tottenham loanee market value has skyrocketed after impressive season.

Luka Vuskovic has never made a single competitive appearance for Tottenham Hotspur, yet his market value has increased by as much as £9.6 million in the past eight months alone, underlining just how significant an asset the 19-year-old Croatian has become during his loan spell at Hamburger SV.

As reported by Football London, Vuskovic’s current transfer value stands between €42 million and €49 million, equivalent to between £36.3 million and £42.3 million, according to the CIES Football Observatory. The same organisation valued him at around €37.8 million last August, meaning his worth has risen substantially despite not yet pulling on a Tottenham shirt in a competitive fixture.

Tottenham made a wise investment in Luka Vuskovic

The trajectory is remarkable given the context. Tottenham agreed a deal to sign Vuskovic from Hajduk Split back in 2023 when he was just 16 years old, with the Croatian officially becoming a Spurs player last summer before immediately being loaned to Hamburg to gain first-team experience.

That decision has been comprehensively vindicated. His performances in the Bundesliga, which have included six goals across all competitions and drawn interest from Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund, have established him as one of the most exciting young defenders in European football.

A knee contusion has complicated the latter stages of his loan spell, keeping him sidelined for three weeks, but Hamburg head coach Merlin Polzin offered an encouraging fitness update, with Vuskovic returning to light training and the pain having subsided. He made his comeback as a late substitute in Hamburg’s 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, his 28th appearance of the season across all competitions.

Vuskovic will return to Tottenham this summer, with Hamburg holding no purchase option in the loan agreement. What happens next depends heavily on the outcome of Tottenham’s relegation battle, with the club currently sitting 18th and two points from safety with four games remaining.

The defender also has one eye on this summer’s World Cup, having already represented Croatia four times ahead of the tournament. A strong showing on the biggest stage of all would only add further to a valuation that is already climbing at a remarkable rate for a player yet to feature for his parent club.
