Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly submitted an offer to sign the Barcelona attacker Ferran Torres this summer.

According to a report from Fichajes, they have failed with a £43 million offer to sign the Spanish international. Barcelona have no plans to let him leave, and they have turned down offers from Tottenham as well as Newcastle.

Spurs could use Ferran Torres

The report claims that Torres is a priority target for Tottenham and Newcastle this summer. Son Heung-min has left the club, and the North London out will need to replace him. It is no surprise that they are keen on the Spanish attacker.

Torres has been quite impressive for Barcelona, and there is no doubt that he would be an excellent acquisition for Tottenham. They need more cutting edge in the final third, and the 25-year-old is capable of operating anywhere across the front three. He will add goals and creativity to the side if he joins the club. He scored 19 goals last season and picked up seven assists.

He has played in England before with Manchester City, and he knows the Premier League well. He might be able to settle in quickly and make an instant impact as well.

Can Spurs get the deal done?

It will be interesting to see if Spurs or Newcastle decide to return with an improved offer in order to convince Barcelona.

The Spanish club are going through financial difficulties, and they could be tempted if a lucrative proposal is presented. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.

Meanwhile, Tottenham will have to convince the player to join the club as well. He’s playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, and he has been fighting for major trophies with them. Barcelona managed to win the league title last season. It will be interesting to see if he’s willing to join a club going through a period of rebuilding.
