This is the first article from The Kop Times since the tragic passing of Diogo Jota, a husband, a father, a son, a friend and one of our own. Everything about Jota since his arrival at Liverpool exuded positivity, happiness, joy and love through our collective ups and downs.
As Liverpool fans, we are not part of the day-to-day lives of the players, but they influence our lives every week. That is why we, at The Kop Times, struggled to express grievances or provide news to the football community.
As everyone grieves in their way, we all must find the strength to move forward, and we owe that to Diogo. Diogo will forever live in the heart of every Liverpool fan and within the soul of our great club. Our thoughts remain with his family and friends. You Will Never Walk Alone.
Rest in Peace, Diogo.
Luis Diaz revealed that he is negotiating an exit from Liverpool amid interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich this summer. The 28-year-old has played a pivotal role last season in Liverpool’s Premier League triumph under the head coach Arne Slot.
However, Slot played Diaz as a makeshift number nine in many games, preferring Cody Gakpo as a left-winger last season. The Colombian international has struggled with contribution droughts from time to time, despite his immense talent as a flamboyant winger.
The Kop Times previously covered that Liverpool have already rejected an approach for Diaz from Barcelona and Bayern. According to Marca, Diaz confirmed that he is negotiating with Barcelona and Bayern, the two clubs that approached Liverpool. Diaz delivered the statement to a social media personality known as ‘La Liendra’. He said:
“We’re there, negotiating. We’ll see what we can do, for us and for the club. We’ll try to do our best and make the best decision. We are in the process of negotiations, talking with the club, with Liverpool, with everyone who is approaching. But I’m very calm where I am, you know, very happy. Trying to make the best decision, now.”
Diaz incurred global backlash on social media after pictures of him partying with influencers became public in light of the recent tragedy. Rest assured, Liverpool will not stand in Diaz’s way if he opts to leave the club this summer.
