Levante have endured a challenging return to La Liga, currently sitting 16th in the table after a difficult run of form that has seen them win only two of their last ten matches.
The club’s return to Spain’s top flight has been a mixed journey so far.
Under the management of Julian Calero, who took charge in June 2024, Levante face the challenge of stabilising in a highly competitive league.
As of the current season, the club’s form in La Liga is struggling: they have recorded only 2 wins, 3 draws and 6 defeats from their opening matches.
Their home form has been particularly weak, with no wins at home compared to slightly better results away.
Despite their league struggles, the Valencia-based club have found a shining light in 22-year-old Cameroonian striker Etta Eyong.
Eyong joined Levante from Villarreal on 1 September for €3 million and has since become one of the breakout stars of the season.
He has scored six goals and provided three assists in 11 appearances, making him the third-highest scorer in La Liga and placing him above Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior in the charts.
His explosive start has earned attention across Europe, with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea all reportedly scouting him ahead of a potential summer move.
The club recently rejected a €30 million bid from CSKA Moscow for the striker, insisting he will not be sold in January, as reported by Ben Jacobs on GiveMeSport.
Under FIFA rules, Eyong cannot move mid-season, as he has already represented two clubs, Villarreal and Levante, this campaign.
However, the Premier League remains a likely destination in the summer, with Manchester United particularly interested in Eyong.
A potential move to Old Trafford could reunite him with Cameroon teammate Bryan Mbeumo, who joined Manchester United in the summer.
“Manchester United is a very good team,” said Eyong. “I used to love Robin van Persie—he had everything: talent, style, and confidence. Wayne Rooney was another world-class striker.”
Praising Mbeumo, Eyong added, “He’s a fantastic player, and I’m lucky to train and play alongside him for Cameroon. We can help each other, and our relationship is getting stronger every day.”
For now, Eyong continues to lead Levante’s attack with confidence and flair, standing out as one of La Liga’s brightest young forwards.
