Marcus Rashford has decided to report back to Manchester United even though manager Ruben Amorim considers him surplus to requirements. United granted the 27-year-old a time off to look for a move away from the club during this summer window.

Amorim has already decided to sell Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Rashford to make room at United. However, Man United have struggled to sell these players, despite interest in them from several different European clubs this summer.

The recurring theme involving most of these players is the astronomical wages that they are earning at the Manchester club. Their interested parties have struggled to find a compromise to sign them, most of whom spent last season on loan.

Rashford enjoyed a loan spell at Aston Villa during the second half of the season, after struggling to impress Amorim. We All Follow United recently covered that Barcelona could sign Rashford for £40m as an alternative to Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.

According to The Athletic, Rashford reported back to United despite being deemed surplus to requirements by Amorim this summer. The 27-year-old trained separately on an individual basis, away from the team training with the rest of Amorim’s squad at Carrington.

Unresolved situation and the upcoming World Cup

The constant delay in Rashford’s unresolved future poses a big problem for the club, amid their need to recruit players. United showed vulnerabilities in many areas of the team that Amorim needs to address this summer amid numerous important sales.

The Red Devils are facing a financial constraint and need to sell players before they can buy more this summer. The positive for Amorim is that he is targeting quality over quantity, as the lack of European fixtures next season provides a unique opportunity for the Portuguese boss.

As for Rashford, no matter what club opts to sign him, the 27-year-old needs to make a big financial compromise. Considering that the Englishman has done nothing to justify what he is earning, it is time for him to accept the reality if he wants to play in the World Cup next year.
