5 Highest-Paid Players In The Premier League
IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect

The highest-paid players in the Premier League now operate in a financial bracket that would have seemed extraordinary even a decade ago. Elite clubs continue to spend heavily on proven performers, while new contracts can push individual salaries beyond £300,000 every week.

The current figures provide an interesting look at where clubs are placing their biggest financial commitments and these figures use estimated gross fixed salaries, meaning bonuses do not form part of the weekly wage shown below.

That is important because performance-related payments can add millions to a player’s annual earnings. The numbers therefore give a clearer picture of guaranteed salary rather than the maximum value of each agreement with the information sourced from Capology

There is one particularly striking feature. The player at the top earns £175,000 more every week than those sitting immediately below him. Perhaps the most surprising player in this list is the 5th placed player who is certainly a world class operator but you might expect a couple of his teammates to be ahead of him like Florian Wirtz or Alexander Isak but Dominik Szoboszlai’s contract might be so high as a result of the reasonable fee they paid to acquire him while the aforementioned two players had transfer fees well in excess of £100million.

Who is earning the most in the Premier League?

5. Dominik Szoboszlai – £320,000 a week

Dominik Szoboszlai takes fifth place with an estimated salary of £320,000 per week. His fixed annual salary reaches £16.64 million, while estimated bonuses could add another £4.992 million. That creates a potential gross annual package of £21.632 million.

Liverpool agreed a new contract with the Hungarian international in July 2026, rewarding a player who has become an important part of their midfield. Szoboszlai offers energy, athleticism and technical quality, while his ability to contribute from advanced positions gives Liverpool another attacking outlet.

At 25, he has entered the stage of his career where Liverpool expect him to influence matches regularly rather than simply provide squad depth.

4. Bruno Fernandes – £320,000 a week

Bruno Fernandes earns the same estimated £320,000 weekly salary as Szoboszlai. His fixed annual earnings stand at £16.64 million, with a further £4.992 million available through estimated bonuses. His potential gross total therefore reaches £21.632 million.

The Manchester United captain has carried a substantial creative burden since arriving at Old Trafford, producing goals and assists while frequently operating as the team’s main attacking midfielder. His salary reflects that responsibility.

Fernandes remains one of United’s most influential players, and his position among the league’s biggest earners shows the financial importance of his role.

3. Virgil van Dijk – £350,000 a week

Virgil van Dijk moves into third place on £350,000 per week. The Liverpool captain receives an estimated £18.2 million in fixed annual salary, while bonuses could increase that figure by £5.46 million.

His potential gross annual earnings therefore reach £23.66 million. Liverpool renewed Van Dijk’s contract in April 2025, keeping the experienced centre-back at Anfield until June 2027.

Defenders rarely reach this level of remuneration, but Van Dijk’s influence explains Liverpool’s decision. His leadership, positioning and ability to control the defensive line have made him a key figure throughout his Anfield career.

2. Enzo Fernández – £350,000 a week

Enzo Fernández sits level with Van Dijk at £350,000 per week. His estimated fixed annual salary reaches £18.2 million, with bonuses potentially adding £5.46 million and taking the gross total to £23.66 million.

Fernández signed his current Manchester City contract on September 1, 2026, and the agreement runs until June 2031. That long-term commitment places significant financial responsibility on Manchester City, particularly because the midfielder has several prime years ahead of him.

1. Erling Haaland – £525,000 a week

Erling Haaland sits comfortably at the top. The Manchester City striker earns an estimated £525,000 every week, giving him a fixed annual salary of £27.3 million.

His estimated bonuses can add £18.2 million, taking the potential gross annual figure to an enormous £45.5 million. Haaland’s weekly salary stands £175,000 above the £350,000 earned by Van Dijk and Fernández. Over a full year, that difference amounts to £9.1 million before bonuses.

His contract runs until June 2034, giving City a remarkably long commitment to one of the most prolific strikers in European football.

For anyone looking at the highest-paid players in the Premier League, Haaland’s numbers stand apart from the rest. The Norwegian leads by a sizeable margin, while four established stars sit between £320,000 and £350,000 per week.

It is interesting we could not confirm any Arsenal players featuring in the top 5 although that might change when Declan Rice signs his new contract. Bukayo Saka is reportedly on £350,000 per week so would sit in joint second but we were not able to confirm this at the time of writing. Rice is likely to sign a deal similar to the one Saka is on according to multiple reports

: Declan Rice is CLOSE to agreeing a new long-term contract with Arsenal. The midfielder is set to receive a SIGNIFICANT pay rise from his current reported £240,000-a-week salary. His new salary would put him on a similar level to Arsenal’s highest earner Bukayo Saka, who is believed to earn around £350,000 per week. — @SamiMokbel_BBC
