5 Potential Replacements For Mohamed Salah at Liverpool
Kyle Ross-Imagn Images

Is Mohamed Salah’s time at Liverpool up? It certainly seems that way at the moment – after a scathing outburst in the press regarding his treatment at the hands of head coach Arne Slot, he has been left out in the cold for the foreseeable future.

As such, it makes sense for Liverpool to begin planning for life after Salah. Who could replace the Egyptian icon in their starting XI? We’ve come up with a few suggestions for the man Chelsea let slip through their ranks without barely playing a game.

Just for clarification, we are not suggesting that any of these players will be able to reach the astronomical heights that Salah did at Liverpool – we’re just looking for players who might be able to fill the gap he will leave behind.

Yankuba Minteh

The 2025/26 season has been a real breakout year for Yankuba Minteh at Brighton. He showed flashes of brilliance last season, but he has been putting in some consistently great displays in the current campaign.

With a goal and four assists to his name in the Premier League so far, he could be a useful replacement for Salah – his pace and magnetic dribbling ability make him a nightmare for defenders to deal with.

Said El Mala

Said El Mala is perhaps a more obscure name than Liverpool fans would like to see – but after their gargantuan spending spree in the summer, a bit of bargain hunting certainly wouldn’t go amiss.

That isn’t to say that El Mala is a discount option – far from it. With six goals in the Bundesliga this season for FC Koln, he has found the back of the net once every two games – and he’s only 19 years of age.

Karim Adeyemi

Karim Adeyemi has been the subject of transfer interest from Manchester United and Arsenal in recent months – therefore, if Liverpool choose to go down this avenue, they will have a fight on their hands for his signature.

Nevertheless, with his breakneck pace and outstanding eye for goal, Adeyemi looks like the most ‘like-for-like’ replacement on the market where Salah is concerned. He has scored six goals in all competitions so far this season.

Antoine Semenyo

Antoine Semenyo may be experiencing a lull in form at the moment for Bournemouth, but audiences would be remiss to forget how dangerous his when operating at the peak of his powers.

In the first few games of the season, Semenyo looked untouchable, using his pace and power to traumatise defenders. An injury has curtailed his season somewhat, but we’d trust Liverpool’s coaching staff to get the best out of him should he make the jump to Anfield.

Rodrygo

This one will certainly spark debate – Rodrygo is having a tough spell at Real Madrid and has seen his stock fall by a noticeable degree, but at just 24 years of age, he’s far from finished.

The arrival of Kylian Mbappe at the Bernabeu has pushed him out of the starting XI – but if he were to replace Salah at Liverpool, he would have no such issues. He’s still extremely quick and has deft feet on the ball, but his recent form could be a sticking point.
