Oliver Glasner snubs Tottenham job to stay at Crystal Palace for next season

Tottenham Hotspur have managed to end the long-standing trophy drought this season under Ange Postecoglou. The Lilywhites ended the season on a high by beating Manchester United in the Europa League final to lift their first silverware since 2008. Winning the competition also ensured Champions league football for next season for the North London club.

However, the domestic campaign has put a big stain on the Europa League celebrations. Ange Postecoglou’s men ended the Premier League campaign just a place above the relegation zone. They registered 22 losses along the way and failed to reach the 40-point mark as well. So, amidst all the celebrations of their European journey, there was a feeling of uncertainty leaning towards Ange Postecoglou’s immediate future at the club.

It was reported earlier last week that Daniel Levy was tempted to sack the Australian at the end of the season, despite the Europa League success. But the Spurs chairman has still not taken a decision and has kept Big Ange in the dark regarding his future at N17. The Lilywhites need to find the solution quickly as they look to build on the Europa League success next season.

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner shuts down Tottenham rumours

There is no surprise that Daniel Levy is looking to replace Ange Postecoglou before the start of next season. The Spurs chairman has already shortlisted a few managerial targets that could potentially takeover the reigns at N17 and kickstart a new era at the club. Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is one of the managers on the shortlist to replace Big Ange at N17.

However, Spurs have suffered a massive blow in their efforts to land the Austrian tactician. The Eagles manager has now confirmed his decision to snub the Lilywhites and stay at Selhurst Park to continue his project. Speaking to Sky Germany (via Florian Plettenberg), Glasner said,

“In football, you never know 100 percent, but I would say I am 99 percent sure to be the coach of Crystal Palace next season.”

The former Eintracht Frankfurt boss all but confirmed his decision to stay in South London for next season. Oliver Glasner has already made history with the Eagles after leading the club to their first ever major trophy earlier this month. Palace beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final to get their hands on the silverware and book a place in next season’s Europa League.

Now, Daniel Levy must switch his focus to other managerial targets if he wants to replace Ange Postecoglou in the summer. There might still be a chance for the Australian to stay at the helm for next season after achieving a historic feat. Big Ange is also adamant to continue at N17 and does not lack the support from the players and the fans as Spurs look to close the gap on their rivals next season.
