Paris Saint-Germain cashes in on Desire Doue signing after historic Champions League final

Paris Saint-Germain got more than their money's worth when they signed Desire Doue last August.

On Saturday, the 19-year-old scored twice and notched an assist in PSG's historic 5-0 win over Inter Milan, securing the club's first Champions League title.

The five-goal margin of victory is the largest in UCL finals history, surpassing AC Milan's 4-0 win over Barcelona in 1994.

With the win, PSG clinched a quadruple, also holding the current Ligue 1, Coupe de France and Trophee des Champions titles.

Considering Paris Saint-Germain's youth, this might be the start of a stretch of prolonged excellence.

Doue gave PSG a 2-0 lead on a 20th-minute strike when his right-footed shot bounced short of the net and past goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

ESPN FC noted that he became the youngest player to score a goal in a Champions League final since 2004.

Doue's second goal came 43 minutes later during the second half, when PSG converted a breakaway attempt that began with a slick midfield pass from Ousmane Dembele to Vitinha, who connected with Doue moments later on a lead pass into Inter's goalie box.

Doue wasn't the only teenager to score in the final, either. Midfielder Senny Mayulu, 19, scored PSG's fifth goal, capping the incredible team performance.

Paris Saint-Germain completed Doue's transfer on August 17, 2024, signing him to a five-year, $50 million contract after beginning his career with Rennes.

That deal already looks like a steal, and it could become even better for PSG in future seasons.

Doue ended his first Champions League with five goals and three assists, establishing himself as one of the game's brightest young stars.

Doue is just getting started, and as he reaches new heights, he'll take PSG with him. You can't put a price tag on that.
