After registering back-to-back draws in their last two outings, Lazio will host the wounded Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Both sides are enduring a woeful start to the campaign, sitting in places that do not befit their historical status. Therefore, neither side can afford a defeat at this stage, especially the Bianconeri, with Igor Tudor’s job potentially on the line.

But before we reach the hour of truth on Sunday, let’s take a look at the past encounters between the two old rivals.

As the most successful club in the history of the Italian top flight, Juventus have the upper hand over almost every other side in terms of head-to-head record, including Lazio. The Turin-based giants have 87 victories from 162 previous Serie A meetings, while the Aquile have only won on 36 occasions, with 39 contests ending in draws. Juve had also outscored the capital side 288-176.

Having netted for both clubs in this fixture, Silvio Piola is the all-time goal-scorer in his fixture with 10 strikes, a record he shares with Juventus icon Alessandro Del Piero. The third spot is also shared by John Hansen (who also represented both clubs) and Roberto Bettega, with nine goals apiece.

The Old Lady also has the advantage over Lazio in their previous Serie A meetings in Rome, albeit a less significant one.  Juventus prevailed 34 times away from home, with 27 wins for the Biancocelesti and 20 draws. Silvio Piola also leads the charts with eight goals, all in Lazio’s colors.

    • Latest Lazio Victory vs Juventus: As fate would have it, Tudor’s first match as Lazio manager saw him beat the club he’s long been associated with. This contest took place at the Olimpico on March 30, 2024. This tightly-contested affair was settled by a 93rd-minute winner from Adam Marusic, who nodded the ball home thanks to Matteo Guendouzi’s assist.
    • Latest Juventus Victory vs Lazio: The Bianconeri last beat their capital foes on October 24, 2024, when Thiago Motta was finding success early in his ill-fated stint in Turin. Alessio Romagnoli saw red in the first half after stopping Pierre Kalulu from heading towards goal. The Bianconeri eventually won the contest thanks to a late own-goal from Mario Gila.
    • Latest Draw Between Lazio & Juventus: The two clubs last met on May 10, 2025, and it ended in a 1-1 draw. Randal Kolo Muani scored a header early in the second period, but Kalulu’s elbow on Taty Castellanos earned him his marching orders swiftly afterwards. Eventually, the Biancocelesti pounced on their numerical advantage, as Matias Vecino latched onto the rebound in the 93rd minute.
