Manchester United are expected to prioritise midfield reinforcements during the upcoming summer transfer window, but Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh is another name that has continued to emerge around European clubs.

This is following his impressive development in Norway.

Casemiro has already confirmed that he will leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Manuel Ugarte has also been heavily linked with a potential exit despite only arriving last summer.

As a result, Manchester United are believed to be focusing much of their recruitment attention on midfield additions ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Defensively, things are slightly different.

Ayden Heaven has enjoyed a breakthrough season at senior level.

The 19-year-old already has a Manchester United Player of the Month award to his name this season.

With Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez also still part of the long-term plans, centre-back is not currently viewed as the club’s biggest priority.

However, Manchester United have still been monitoring several young defenders across Europe, including highly-rated Gambian centre-back Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh.

Now, though, it appears another club is pushing hard to win the race for his signature.

According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Philipp Hinze on X, Kinteh has reached a verbal agreement to join German side FC Koln.

The report states that there is not yet a full agreement between Koln and Tromso at club level, but negotiations are ongoing as the Bundesliga side attempt to finalise the deal.

It was also added that the defender has attracted interest from England.

However, Koln are currently accelerating discussions in an attempt to avoid competition from elsewhere.

Sedi Kinteh has rapidly emerged as one of the more highly-rated young defenders in Scandinavian football.

His physical profile, composure on the ball and defensive awareness have reportedly caught the attention of several clubs across Europe.

For now, though, Koln appear to be leading the race.
