Tottenham Hotspur have the chance to close the gap on their rivals next season and build on the Europa League success. The Lilywhites endured a tough domestic campaign under Ange Postecoglou, but the players managed to end the season on a high after going all the way in Europe and winning the Europa League. Winning the competition also ensured Champions League football for next season.
However, the Lilywhites have not yet managed to make a move in the transfer market following the Europa League success. Spurs are already playing catch-up in the transfer market while other clubs are signing players left, right, and centre. The fans are rightly worried that the North London club might miss out on their intended targets if they move slow in the summer.
There is a clear need to bolster the attack heading into next season. Last summer’s statement signing Dominic Solanke endured a tough start to life at N17 following his switch from Bournemouth. But it is fair to say that the England international managed to find his mojo back towards the end and played a crucial part in leading Spurs to silverware. The same cannot be said about Richarlison though, as the Brazilian fell down the pecking order under big Ange.
Tottenham are looking to bring in a new striker to compete with Dominic Solanke next season as the club looks to compete well in domestic competitions, as well as, the Champions League. With Richarlison heading for a potential exit in the summer, Daniel Levy must sign a quality replacement that would elevate the attack to a new level under Thomas Frank.
It was reported earlier that Spurs were interested in signing Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus in the summer. The interest still remains as the Lilywhites look to bring the Serbian to N17 to compete with Dominic Solanke. The Italian giants are also looking to sell the 25-year-old and are willing to listen to offers for as little as £20m.
However, there is a new twist in the transfer saga as Tottenham are not the only ones willing to land the Juventus star in the summer. As per Calciomercato, AC Milan have also joined the race to sign the prolific striker in the summer as they look to bounce back after a dismal domestic campaign. The aforementioned report also suggests that Massimiliano Allegri wants Vlahovic to join the I Rossoneri in the summer.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Serbia international. Daniel Levy needs to act fast in the coming weeks if he wants to sign the prolific striker for next season. It is fair to say that Dusan Vlahovic would bring a different dynamic to the attack as compared to Dominic Solanke, and he might also flourish under Thomas Frank as the Dane likes to play two strikers up front in certain games.
The 25-year-old is explosive and enjoys running the channels in the final third of the pitch. The Juventus star also tries to link-up play with the wingers, and tends to be a fox-in-the-box during attacking transitions. The only drawback is that Vlahovic is not so efficient in front of goal and tends to make the wrong decisions sometimes.
