Tottenham Hotspur signed Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig at the start of the season.

The Netherlands International is yet to make the desired impact at the North London club, and he is already being linked with an exit. Simons has four goals and five assists in 38 appearances.

According to reports from Spain, the player dreams of a return to his former club, Barcelona, at the end of the season.

Xavi Simons to move on?

Tottenham is currently fighting for survival in the Premier League, and the 22-year-old does not wish to play in the championship with them next season. The report claims that his agent has now accelerated efforts to take the player back to his boyhood club. Barcelona are monitoring the situation, and it will be interesting to see if they are prepared to provide him with an exit route in the summer.

Chelsea is also keen on securing his signature. However, the Netherlands international would prefer a return to his boyhood club. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Spurs need commitment from Simons

Tottenham could still secure survival in the Premier League, and it will be interesting to see if Simons is willing to continue in the Premier League if that happens. He joined at the start of the season, and he has a contract with them until 2030. The North London club is under no pressure to sell him. However, the fact that his agent is accelerating efforts to get him out of the club already will be concerning for the club. They need players who are committed to the project.

If the attacker does not value the project, it would be a wise decision to cash in on him and use the funds to improve multiple areas of the squad. Tottenham is expected to bring in a new manager soon, and they will enter a period of rebuilding. Having players who will treat them as a stepping stone might not be ideal.
