Ahead of the Spain women's national team's second leg match against Germany in the UEFA Women's Nations League Final, Aitana Bonmati was ruled out after suffering an injury during a training session.

Bonamti is one of Spain's most important players and is also very crucial for FC Barcelona's women's team. Many reports in Spain suggested that Bonmati had broken her leg after falling awkwardly during training and fracturing her left fibula.

Bonmati played in Spain's previous match against Germany this past Friday, where she played 77 minutes in the 0-0 draw.

FC Barcelona confirmed that Bonmati will be out of action for five months after undergoing surgery on a broken leg.

FC Barcelona Femení: "First-team player Aitana Bonmatí has undergone successful surgery for the transdesmal fracture of her left fibula. This surgery was performed by Dr. Antoni Dalmau at the Hospital de Barcelona, under the supervision of the Club's Medical Services. The expected recovery time will be around five months."

Aitana Bonmati's Injury Update

Aitana Bonmati wrote a long message after undergoing surgery for her fractured left fibula. The Spanish star is optimistic about recovering quickly.

Bonmati wrote, "And this is the other side of sport. Today I have to start a new challenge off the playground: recover from the fracture of the peroné I suffered on Sunday. Surgery went well; now it's time to regenerate physically and mentally. Elite football takes you to the limit in all aspects, and there are factors that were currently preventing me from enjoying the profession and the day-to-day."

The FC Barcelona star player continued by saying, "Honestly felt like it was a time to put the brakes on and actually thought about it, but didn’t, and life just stopped at a halt. With this lesson, I face what comes, convinced that it will be a learning experience. I want to thank the doctors, the medical services, and the Hospital of Barcelona, as well as all the people who are supporting me. One more time, I WILL BE BACK."
