Inter Milan center-forward Marcus Thuram starred in last night’s 2-0 Champions League victory over Ajax.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, VAR denied him what should have been a ‘clear’ penalty.
Marcus Thuram won the MVP award for a match-winning performance at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.
Indeed, the French ace scored two headers on either side of halftime to inspire Inter to a precious win in Amsterdam.
However, VAR spoiled further celebrations.
Thuram opened the scoring toward the end of the first half.
Yet, before finding the net, he nearly won a penalty for the Nerazzurri.
Indeed, the 28-year-old had thought he had drawn a spot-kick before VAR intervened.
Youri Baas brought the Frenchman down to the ground inside the box, with referee Michael Oliver pointing to the spot.
But after reviewing the incident with VAR, the Englishman overturned his decision.
Instead, he sanctioned Thuram for an earlier foul, denying Inter a chance to take the lead in the 33rd minute.
