Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the departure of manager Ange Postecoglou this afternoon.

After careful deliberation, the North London outfit have decided to part ways with Australian manager, despite the fact that he delivered their first major trophy in years.

Alan Shearer reacts to Ange Postecoglou sacking

Former Premier League striker and popular Pundit Alan Shearer has now shared his reaction to the decision on social media.

He sent out a post on X, claiming: “What a stupid game football is!!!!”.

It seems that the decision from Tottenham has not gone down well with the former Premier League star. However, one has to remember that it has been their worst Premier League campaign in decades, and Tottenham ended up losing 22 league matches. Winning the UEFA Europa League cannot paper over the cracks, and a fresh start could be ideal for the club.

Tottenham need a fresh start

Tottenham have a talented young squad, and the new manager might be able to bring out the best in them. A club of their stature cannot afford to finish just above the relegation zone. They should be pushing for domestic trophies every season and fighting for European qualification.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can bring in the right replacement for the Australian manager. As for Postecoglou, it will be interesting to see where he ends up. There is no doubt that he has impressed at times, but his overly aggressive approach has cost his team quite often.

Postecoglou wanted to stay on as the Tottenham manager, as per recent reports.

Meanwhile, Tottenham should look to bring in someone with a more balanced approach, and they have been linked with managers like Thomas Frank in recent weeks.
