Alejandro Balde to leave Barcelona

Alejandro Balde has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, amid continuing speculation about where the full-back will end up come the end of this summer’s transfer window.

The 22-year-old left-back made 28 LaLiga appearances for Barcelona last season, providing two assists.

Having come through the club’s academy, Balde has known nothing but Barcelona but that has been put in threat this summer.

Reports earlier this year stated that Barça were willing to listen to offers for the 22-year-old whilst Manchester United’s interest in the full-back first emerged during the early stages of 2025.

Earlier this summer, Balde decided that he wanted to stay at Barcelona although reports just this week suggested that Manchester United had made contact with Jorge Mendes (the full-back’s agent) to explore the possibility of a deal.

Outlet Jijantes FC have now reported, on X, that Alejandro Balde will not continue at Barça with him taking the decision to leave the Spanish club following talks with the club.

The outlet have also stated that Jorge Mendes is currently working to find the full-back a new team before the end of the transfer window.

With Balde’s decision now revealed, a door looks to have opened for Manchester United. Whether The Red Devils take the choice to pursue a deal remains to be seen, although that decision may be revealed in the coming days.

The Barcelona man is not the only full-back linked with a move to Manchester United currently, with Lewis Hall and Jorge Salinas also being tied to moves.

With Hall entering new contract talks with Newcastle United, and Racing Santander appearing reluctant to let Salinas go, Balde could be the option that The Red Devils decide to go for.

Decision time is approaching, though, with choices having to be made soon.
