Alejandro Balde transfer decision made by Manchester United

Alejandro Balde continues to be linked with moves away from Barcelona, including to Manchester United, even in the final days of this summer’s transfer window.

The Barcelona youth academy graduate was put up for sale earlier this summer, with the LaLiga champions ready to listen to offers for the left-back.

Further clarification revealed that Manchester United had made contact with Jorge Mendes to discuss the possibility of a deal for Balde.

Whilst Benfica jumped in front of United, submitting a bid, it appeared that The Red Devils had been leading the race, although many key negotiations still had to take place.

More recent reports have suggested that the possibility of a deal between Manchester United and Barcelona for the left-back are low, however, with Hansi Flick seeing Alejandro Balde as a part of his side whilst The Red Devils could not agree a price.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has now provided further updates on the situation, stating that Manchester United will not be signing the left-back as it stands.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the journalist said that, following calls with Mendes, the club considered the deal to be too expensive.

United’s decision is the latest in a continuing transfer saga as the club aim to sign a left-back before the transfer window slams shut at the beginning of next week.

Whilst The Red Devils have widened their search, making a move for Aston Villa left-back Ian Maatsen, their success rate does not appear to be increasing.

With limited time remaining in this summer’s transfer window, Manchester United face a race against time to complete the signing of a left-back.

Should the club be unable to secure a signing, Michael Carrick’s side could be left weakened in the left-back position until the January transfer window.
