Alejandro Garnacho close to Chelsea exit
USA TODAY Sports via Reuters Connect

Alejandro Garnacho joined Chelsea last summer on a seven-year contract from Manchester United in a deal that signalled towards the Argentine progressing in his career.

One year into that contract, though, Garnacho’s future hangs in the balance. He made 24 appearances in the Premier League last season, scoring once and providing four assists, as he tried to make an impact.

Those attempts have proved unsuccessful, however, with him booed against Manchester City whilst Chelsea players even went for him when the side faced Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

Roma have come into the equation, making an offer to sign the left-winger this summer whilst the Blues remain open to a sale if any club comes forward.

Journalist Bobby Vincent has now stated that the London-based club believe that a deal for Garnacho is close. Vincent also said that the left-winger has not reported for pre-season training yet. A valuation of €50m has also been reinforced by the journalist.

The BBC, on the other hand, have stated that the deal is advancing whilst subsequently saying that a loan deal will not be entertained.

Alejandro Garnacho now has a choice to make. With interest from the Premier League, Europe, and the Saudi Pro League, the Argentine will have to decide where he goes next. That decision could be decisive in his future success.

Chelsea’s finish last season in the Premier League (10th) has already kick-started a spell of recruitment with Marc Cucurella joining Real Madrid whilst Tyrique George has moved to Everton.

Garnacho is now looking to be the next name on the exit list, a list that may continue to increase as the summer transfer window approaches its finish.

Whether he stays in Europe or not remains to be seen but it will be up to the left-winger to decide if he does.
